Meet Mrs. Hoban!

Hi, I'm Mrs. Karen Hoban.  I am extremely excited to be teaching 2nd grade this year.  This is my 10th year at St. John Neumann Regional Catholic School.  I am married with three children.  My oldest son is 18 and in his first year at Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia where he has a scholarship and will be playing baseball.  The children will be hearing a lot about that especially in the spring!   I have a 17 year old daughter who is a Senior at St. Pius X High School.  She plays Softfall and dances Ballet.  My third child is 15 and a Freshman at St. Pius X where he will run Cross Country and join the golf team.

Just as I am proud of my children, I look forward to a year of getting to know my students as my "second" children.  I want to know about all their extracurricular activities and hobbies.  I want to know when they are having good days and bad days.  Our classroom is a family and we will encourage and support each other!  Please let me know if there is ever anything going on at home that will help me to know your child better.

Please contact me with any questions, concerns or suggestions about how we can make this year an exceptional year of learning for your child.  E-Mail is the best way to reach me khoban@sjnrcs.org.  You can also call the school and leave me a message 770-381-0557.  I am available to conference during my planning period which is from 12:30 to 1:15, before school at 7:15, or after school.

I look forward to getting to know all of my students and families!

We are the happy hippos!

We are all hippos.  I happen to think the hippo is a beautiful creature.  Some people may not.  The thing I know is this:  It does not matter what you look like on the outside, it MATTERS what you look like on the INSIDE.  We will talk more about this in our Religion classes this year!  It's a big year as you know, First Reconciliation, AND your first Eucharist!

School Hours:  Students can be dropped off as early as 7:30 a.m.  They will remain either in the front hall or the gymnasium until the 8:00 bell.  The students should be in their classrooms by 8:15 a.m.  After 8:20 a.m., they must come to the front office for a pass to class and they will be marked tardy.  The school day ends at 3:00.  Parents should plan to pick their child up NO LATER than 3:15 p.m.  If you are running late, your student will be taken to a classroom with teacher supervision until you arrive.  You must come to the front office to get them.
