Need a little help?

Clipart of books; Size=248 pixels wide

Occasionally students need extra help on an assignment or a friendly reminder about what is expected of them. On this page I'll put some useful tips relating to class projects so they can find the help they need even when I'm not available (e.g., on weekends or evenings). And I'll be sure to update the tips and hints when new assignments are due.

For example, if the students are completing a writing assignment, I will include tips on good sentence and paragraph structure.  I will give specific directions on what I am looking for in all assignments.

General Study Tips

Never try to study or do your homework when you are tired.  Many teachers suggest that students do their homework as soon as they get home, before they watch television or play.  This is a great plan for many students.  However, it was never a great plan for my own children.  They were always so tired from their hours at school, they needed a break before they hit the homework.  So they would often play outside or even watch an hour or so of television, get a snack, and THEN do their homework.

The important thing is to know what works best for YOU, and then follow that plan.

I will never assign more than 30 minutes of homework a night.  You may need to spend some additional time studying if there is a test.  Make sure you read the directions of all assignments before beginning!  Do your best, and neat work.
